Originally, the patriarch had intended for Bloom to inherit this ability, that she might possess two incredible powers and be able to [Corrupt] the Past itself for his own nefarious purposes. But Bloom resisted, fled, and so Belle was chosen as recipient instead.
An extremely versatile ability, its conceptual limits are near endless. You may [Corrupt] someone’s body, their mind, their physical shape… You might [Corrupt] an understanding, the landscape, even the laws of nature themselves. Of course, as with all magic, the broader and more grand the intent, the greater the mana required to perform it will be.
Lord Korsthoff used this nefarious ability to build a veritable empire of wealth and social standing. How could any resist him, when dragged down to the depths of Corruption? Even a fool could see the staggering applications of such an ability, and someone as cunning and cutthroat as Lord Korsthoff even more so.
Belle instead uses the ability for more hedonistic purposes. Perhaps we ought to count ourselves lucky that as [Corrupt] the Heart’s current user, he prefers personal pleasure to the pursuit of power.
Is there anything truly pure and incorruptible in this world? Perhaps that is the key to defeating such an ability.
